DEMOGRAPHIC ADJACENT SITUATION

There are a couple of surrounding small towns, the closest is about 6 kilometers away from the main "Beneficio" (main house). This one is called "Aldea La Montana" which is located in Moyuta, Jutiapa and it has an estimated population of 5,500 inhabitants. The other town nearby is "Aldea Melchor" which is locate in Oratorio, Santa Rosa with 9 kilometers away and with about 9,800 inhabitants.

Both of these populations are mainly "Agricultores o Caficultores"(Coffee Growers) and to include corn and black beans as their main source of business. Also they would have cattle, livestock for dairy produce.

     

RAINFALL AND CLIMATE

The annual rainfall during the last 5 years changed from 2,150 millimeters to 3, 830 millimeters. The rainy season begins the first days in May and lasts until the end of October. The dry season begins on the first days of November, to the end of April having the characteristic that significant enough rains exist in March and April which is good for the growing of the coffee cherries. It is important to mention that for about 90 % of the year a fog spreads in the whole Estate at different hours of the day or of the night.

 
 

 

WATER SOURCES

The Estate possesses 5 natural water springs which are protected by natural and artificial vegetation around it. The total usage of the water supply by the farm is about 30 % to aid for the maintenance, and coffee process, to the use for drinking water for all inhabitants as well as for irrigation purposes for almacigos and temporary crops.


ACCESSES

The Estate has approximately 17 kilometers of internal roadways. All of the roads are of sand balastro and they are maintained by the farm’s expense and kept at good conditions. The main access to the Estate it is from the highway CA-8. There are other ways to enter from other neighboring small towns as it is the population of Pasaco, Jutiapa or from Moyuta, Jutiapa and the last access is from the Village of “The Mountain”, so as mentioned the Estate is very well connected and communicated with surrounding areas.
